Aufgabe

1. I was late because the bus was delayed. (because → because of)

   Umformung:

   → I was late because of the delay. (because of + Nomen)

2. During the lesson, she took notes. (during → while)

   Umformung:

   → While the teacher was speaking, she took notes. / While she was in the lesson, she took notes.

   (during + Nomen → while + Satz mit Subjekt + Verb)

3. I like coffee. My sister likes coffee too. (both … and)

   Umformung:

   → Both my sister and I like coffee.

   (both … and verbindet zwei Subjekte: sowohl … als auch)

4. „I love pizza.“ — „I love pizza too.“ (so + Hilfsverb + Subjekt)

   Umformung:

   → „I love pizza.“ — „So do I.“

   (so + Hilfsverb + Subjekt = Zustimmung bei positiver Aussage)

5. „I can’t swim.“ — „I can’t swim either.“ (neither + Hilfsverb + Subjekt)

   Umformung:

   → „I can’t swim.“ — „Neither can I.“

   (neither + Hilfsverb + Subjekt = Zustimmung bei negativer Aussage)

6. She works as a nurse. She is a very dedicated person. (Verbinde mit as … as oder like)

   Umformung:

   → She works as a nurse and is as dedicated as anyone I know. (freie Variante möglich)

7. Since you know the answer, please tell us. (since → because)

   Umformung:

   → Because you know the answer, please tell us. (because = direktere Formulierung)

8. She is not as tall as her brother. (Komparativ mit than)

   Umformung:

   → Her brother is taller than she is. / Her brother is taller than her.

   (not as … as → Komparativ mit than; Subjekt und Objekt tauschen)
