→ Water consists of hydrogen and oxygen. (consist = Stativ-Verb, allgemeine naturwissenschaftliche Tatsache → Simple Present)
- He better at chess — he practises every day. (get)
→ He is getting better at chess — he practises every day. (laufende Entwicklung/Veränderung im Gange → Present Progressive)
- This soup strange. (taste)
→ This soup tastes strange. (taste = Stativ-Verb, beschreibt eine Eigenschaft → Simple Present)
- We at a hotel near the beach this summer. (stay)
→ We are staying at a hotel near the beach this summer. (vorübergehende Situation, zeitlich begrenzt → Present Progressive)
- She the answer. (know)
→ She knows the answer. (know = Stativ-Verb, beschreibt einen Wissenszustand → Simple Present)
- The company rapidly this year. (expand)
→ The company is expanding rapidly this year. (this year = laufende Entwicklung, vorübergehend → Present Progressive)
- He upset about something. (seem)
→ He seems upset about something. (seem = Stativ-Verb, beschreibt einen Eindruck/Zustand → Simple Present)
- I about changing jobs. (think)
→ I am thinking about changing jobs. (think hier = aktiv nachdenken, kein Stativ-Verb in dieser Bedeutung → Present Progressive)
- The river through three different countries. (flow)
→ The river flows through three different countries. (allgemeine geografische Tatsache → Simple Present)
- She a doctor this afternoon. (see)
→ She is seeing a doctor this afternoon. (see hier = Arzttermin, geplante Handlung in naher Zukunft → Present Progressive)
